SAME MISSION, NEW NAME.EU_NavyGold_Vert_Padding

Emmaus Bible College = Emmaus University

We are happy to announce that Emmaus University will begin the launch of a new name and brand identity as Emmaus University with full board approval.

From its beginning, Emmaus has been educating and equipping men and women in the Bible for Christian service. In 1984 Emmaus Bible School became Emmaus Bible College, shortly thereafter receiving accreditation by the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (now the Association for Biblical Higher Education) to offer Bible degrees. Now, for over 30 years, Emmaus has been educating men and women with dual majors in Bible and a second major of their choice, beginning with its first non-bible major in Teacher Education, approved in 1994.

With this new updated name and brand identity, Emmaus is also excited to announce the launch of a Master's Degree in Bible and Ministry through Emmaus Global Campus. This new program strengthens our current Global Campus offerings and our desire to provide an education that is accessible to students who desire a biblical education but are constrained by ministry, family, or employment.

This new updated name communicates the distinctive value that Emmaus brings to higher education: the opportunity for students to enjoy an educational experience that emphasizes Christ-Centered Education, Uncompromised Biblical Teaching, and Valuable Professional Degrees.

       ●   From the University’s beginning, the name Emmaus, taken from Luke 24, reminds us of the value and importance of knowing the scriptures,

…beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. (Luke 24:27 ESV)

The Bible will remain the core of our educational model; we continue to believe that studying and knowing the Bible is essential for all of faith and learning—Scripture speaks to every program offered at Emmaus. This is what sets Emmaus apart and what we continue to hold sacred.

       ●   The updated name, Emmaus University, communicates the complementary nature of our programs, with every student enjoying a major in bible alongside a professional program of choice. This, coupled with our advance into graduate studies, gives us the confidence to pursue this change with the continued vision of being flourishing, relevant, and accessible as a trusted name for transformational learning rooted in biblical truth.

We are resolved to continue as an institution rooted in the Bible, and we remain committed to our mission …to glorify God by educating and equipping learners to impact the world for Christ through faithful and effective service in their ministries, professions, and communities.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is the institution changing its name from "Emmaus Bible College" to "Emmaus University"?

  • When will the name change officially take effect?

The rebranding process will begin immediately and continue over the next several months, until complete. Our goal is to begin doing business as Emmaus University on January 1, 2025.

  • Will the mission and values of the Emmaus remain the same?

Beyond the excitement of expanding the reach of our mission, nothing will change. Same mission, new name.

  • Will there be any changes to the academic programs offered?

We anticipate the launch of our first graduate program in Bible and ministry in the fall of 2025 through our online Global Campus. Outside of this exciting new program, our curriculum will remain exactly the same and rooted in the Bible.

  • How does the new name reflect Emmaus' vision for the future?

We believe that our mission to equip learners to impact the world for Christ is as relevant now as it ever has been, and our vision for the future is rooted in our commitment to getting an Emmaus Education to those it can serve well. This has prompted the launch of our first graduate program in the fall of 2025, and we hope will continue to fuel new and innovative biblical programs in the future.

  • How will the name change affect accreditation and recognition of degrees?

Emmaus University will maintain our accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission and the Association of Biblical Higher Education.

  • What does this change mean for alumni and their degrees?

  • How will the name change affect prospective students and their application process?

There will be no impact. We aim to reach mission-fit students. Our mission is not changing, so our prospective students can expect all that they have been promised.

  • Will there be any changes to tuition fees or financial aid options?

No fees or financial aid options will be altered due to the name change.

  • How will Emmaus ensure a smooth transition during this change?

Because our mission is not changing there will be no functional transition for any of our personnel. That said, the name change will take effect on January 1, 2025, and the rebranding process will happen over the course of several months.

  • Will there be new marketing materials and branding?

Our marketing team is working diligently to develop a comprehensive brand scheme and style guide across all areas that will reflect who we are to potential students and stakeholders. This style guide will be used as we replace existing uses of old brand in both print and digital.
