Federal Financial Aid
Currently, Emmaus participates in three federally funded financial aid programs: Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants, and Federal Stafford Loans. These programs are designed to provide financial assistance to students with financial need based on their resources.
All applicants for Federal Aid must be:
- U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens
- High school graduates (or equivalent)
- Making satisfactory academic progress
- Not be in default on any loan or owe a refund on any grant made under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
To apply for federal aid, the student must fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which is available at your local library or high school or through the Financial Aid Office at Emmaus. Request that the results be sent to Emmaus University. Our Title IV School Code is 016487. Also, be sure the Admissions Department has received your application for admission and your high school and university transcripts.
Generally, financial aid packages are determined on the basis of need. The standardized need analysis that Emmaus uses is the FAFSA which is produced by the U.S. Department of Education. Emmaus calculates need in accordance with the Department of Education guidelines using the following formula:
Cost of Education (Includes fees, books, travel) - Family Contribution (Determined by the Department of Education) = Financial Need (Synonymous with a student's eligibility)
Once a student's need has been determined, a financial aid package will be assembled taking into account the student's preferences. Typically, students will receive notification of their financial assistance by means of an award letter.

Verification
Some Student Aid Reports are selected for verification. This is simply a process where information contained on the Student Aid Report, as reported by the student, is checked for accuracy. If your Student Aid Report is selected, we will notify you of the procedures to follow and a complete Verification Policy will be sent to you. The verification policy is available upon request from the Financial Aid Office.
